Welcome To the London Chronicler

I’ve often heard it said that there is a chinese proverb that says, ‘May you live in interesting times’.

Well we certainly do! From hurricanes, earthquakes, and tornadoes to predictions of Armageddon and volcano eruptions, there is no shortage of material to comment on if you are like me and have an opinion on everything… hang on, not quite everything; I really don’t care which footballer is sleeping with which former big brother contestant.

However, I do care that there is a new legal phenomenon called a ‘Super injunction’ .  Of course this doesn’t exist in the real world.  It’s just an injunction, it only became ‘super’ because some people wanted to make a point about how it was unfair that they couldn’t gossip about who was sleeping with whom when the financial crisis hit, because if they were privy to that information, the papers could hound said banker and he would then change his mind and accept a smaller pension, thus saving the taxpayers some money and the papers would have delivered a valuable public service. So the question arises:

When is gossip news and when is news gossip? Are they interchangeable? Answers on a postcard please……
